.domains
A .domains domain is a generic top-level domain run by Binky Moon, LLC. It is a newer extension aimed at everyone working in the Internet industry, including hosting providers, domainers, website builders and domain registries and registrars. Individuals and businesses outside the industry, such as real estate agents, may also consider it.
The registry supports DNSSEC, which helps protect your domain against tampering with its DNS records. Names can be from 1 to 63 characters long, and internationalised names are allowed. Registrations run for 1 to 10 years, and renewals are made in one-year steps. No local presence is required, so you can register it from anywhere in the world.
A .domains domain is a good choice if you want a name that suits the technology sector and you want to register early while availability is still good. Before you register, check the term you want, and make sure your contact details are accurate, because the registry requires them to be kept current.
Registration is open to anyone worldwide.
- Any individual or organisation can register a .domains domain, with no local presence needed.
- Your contact details must be accurate when you register.
- You must keep your contact details current for as long as you hold the name.
Renew before the expiry date to keep your name. The registry allows a grace period after expiry.
- There is a 40-day grace period after expiry during which you can still renew the name.
- There is no separate redemption period.
- If the name is not renewed by the end of the grace period, it is released afterwards.
You can transfer an existing .domains domain to Domain Central from another provider.
- You need the authorisation (EPP) code from your current registrar, and the domain must be unlocked.
- A domain cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or of a previous transfer.
- The losing registrar has up to 5 days to respond, after which the transfer completes automatically, usually within 5 to 7 days.
- A successful transfer adds one year to the registration term.
You can change the registrant of your .domains domain through your registrar.
- The registrant change is made through the registrar.
- A change of registrant does not change the expiry date.
