.engineer
A .engineer domain is a generic top-level domain for all things related to engineering. The registry is Dog Beach, LLC, which operates the extension from its base at identity.digital. Its intended users include computer software engineers, aerospace engineers, engineering degree courses, and people who blog or run forums about construction, science, education, medicine, computing or cars.
The registry supports DNSSEC, so you can add a signed layer of protection to your domain’s DNS records. Names can be between 2 and 63 characters long, and internationalised names are allowed. Registrations run for a minimum of 1 year and can be renewed in 1 year steps, and no local presence is required to register.
A .engineer domain is a good choice if your website or business centres on engineering in any of its forms. Before you register, check that the name you want is free and that your contact details will stay accurate, because the registry requires them to be kept current.
Registration is open to anyone worldwide.
- Any individual or organisation may register a .engineer domain.
- Your contact details must be accurate when you register.
- You must keep your contact details current for the life of the domain.
Renew before the expiry date to keep your name, as the grace period is limited.
- After expiry there is a 40 day grace period in which you can still renew.
- There is no separate redemption period.
- Renewals are added in 1 year increments.
- If the name is not renewed, it is released afterwards.
You can move an existing .engineer domain to Domain Central from another provider.
- You need the authorisation (EPP) code from your current registrar.
- The domain must be unlocked before the transfer can start.
- A domain cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or of a previous transfer.
- Transfers usually take 5 to 7 days, and the losing registrar has up to 5 days to respond.
You can change the registrant of your .engineer domain through the registrar.
- The change is made through your registrar, not directly with the registry.
- A change of registrant does not alter the expiry date.
