.me
A .me domain is the country code extension for Montenegro, run by the Government of Montenegro. It was once limited to citizens of Montenegro, but it is now open to anyone. Because it is classed as a generic country code top-level domain, it no longer targets Montenegro alone. People and businesses use it for personal sites, portfolios, personal brands and projects with a global audience.
A .me domain supports DNSSEC, which helps protect your domain against tampering with its DNS records. You can register names from 3 to 63 characters long, and internationalised names are allowed. Google treats a .me domain the same as a .com domain for search ranking and indexing, so the extension itself will not hold back your visibility.
A .me domain is a good choice when you want a short, personal or brand-focused address. Before you register, check that the name you want is available, and remember that the registry does not hide your contact details from the public, so consider our domain privacy feature.
Registration is open to anyone, so you do not need to be a citizen of Montenegro or live there.
- You can register a .me domain whatever your location or nationality.
- There is no local presence requirement for this extension.
- Your contact details must be accurate, and the registry does not hide them from the public.
Your .me domain renews in one-year blocks, and you should renew before the expiry date to keep the name.
- After expiry, there is a 40-day grace period in which you can still renew the domain at the standard rate.
- There is no separate redemption period for this extension, so the grace period is the window to recover your name.
- If the name is not renewed by the end of the grace period, it is released and becomes available to others.
