.solar
A .solar domain is a generic top-level domain run by Binky Moon, LLC. It is a newer extension aimed at the solar industry, including solar panel manufacturers, energy companies, greenhouse sellers and tanning salons.
The registry supports DNSSEC, which helps protect your domain from certain kinds of tampering with its DNS records. Registrations can run from 1 to 10 years, and you can renew in one-year steps. Names can be between 1 and 63 characters long, and internationalised names are allowed.
A .solar domain suits a business or individual connected to solar technology who wants a name that signals their industry. Before you register, check that the name you want is free and that you are comfortable with the registration length you choose.
Registration is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
- Anyone may register a .solar domain, with no industry or location requirement.
- Your contact details must be accurate when you register.
- You must keep your contact details current after registration.
Renew before your expiry date to keep your name without interruption.
- After expiry there is a 40 day grace period in which you can still renew your domain.
- There is no separate redemption period.
- Renewals are added in one-year increments.
You can move an existing .solar domain to Domain Central from another provider.
- You need the authorisation (EPP) code from your current provider.
- The domain must be unlocked before the transfer can start.
- Transfers usually take 5 to 7 days, and a domain cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer.
You can change the registrant of your .solar domain through the registrar.
- Changing the registrant does not change the expiry date.
- The term of the registration stays the same after a change of owner.
