A .us domain is the country code domain for the United States of America. Registry Services, LLC runs the registry, and the extension has long been used by government agencies and schools. It is also available to individuals, churches, non-profits and businesses that meet the registry’s rules.
The extension supports DNSSEC, which helps protect your domain from certain kinds of tampering with its DNS records. Names can be between 3 and 63 characters long, and internationalised names are not allowed. Registration terms run from 1 to 10 years, and your Classic DNS comes free with every registration.

- Foreign entities can register if they have a bona fide presence in the United States.
- You will be asked to state your intended use for the domain and your applicable category.
- Your contact details must be accurate, as the registry checks eligibility.
Renew before your expiry date to keep your name without interruption.
- You have a 40 day grace period after expiry to renew your .us domain.
- There is no separate redemption period.
- If the name is not renewed within the grace period, it is released afterwards.
